About Bailey
In 2011, I began my journey as a UU professional, serving eight years as Music Director at the Washington Ethical Society, a dually affiliated, UU-adjacent Ethical Culture society. Since leaving my position at WES, I discerned that my call was to serve Unitarian Universalism more broadly. I have engaged actively in professional development, become a member of the Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA), currently serve on the Nominating Committee of the Association for Unitarian Universalist Music Ministries (AUUMM), and have expanded my web of connection to include settled and interim ministers, chaplains, DREs, UUA staff, and lay leaders throughout North America.
In addition, throughout my twenty years as a Unitarian Universalist I have deepened my faith practice through Adult RE offerings, covenant groups, and trainings. My family and I are active members of UUMAC, one of the Central East Region’s summer institutes. Process theology, religious humanism, and a need for transcendent, embodied, multi-sensory worship in community all guide me as I seek to be a change agent within the faith. My decades of experience as a professional musician have taught me to both prepare and respond in the moment. Being a parent has pushed me to question our liturgies and our congregational life patterns. And my need to be held and hold others in the faith drives me to serve.
